My mother was a patient of Julie's recently. When my mom was admitted it was for observation as her tests were not clear as to what the problem may be (EKG was normal, blood tests were abnormal). When Julie came on duty at 7:30 am, she reviewed my mom's blood tests, as well as the heart monitor results. My mom was scheduled to go for a stress test and Julie felt this may pose a problem as she was seeing the results of the other tests (blood tests and EKG were abnormal now, Echo was showing normal) and took it upon herself to speak up and call my mom's Cardiologist. After listening to Julie provide the details, Dr. C advised she was correct and to cancel the stress test and to prep her for an Angiogram. When speaking with Dr. C after the Angiogram, he indicated she had a blockage and had to have two stents placed in her main artery. He advised we could have had a much larger problem had my mom went for the stress test that morning.
Not only did Julie go this extra step but her bedside manner is amazing: she is patient, caring, kind, humble and truly pays attention to her patients by listening to their thoughts and concerns. All our thanks and appreciation go to Julie for following what she learned in her schooling and on the job throughout her career. Had it not been for her, God only knows what we would have had to face. My family feels a sincere gratitude to this amazing RN for going above and beyond in her job.
