I don't know where to begin. I am a T-4 complete breast line paraplegic. No easy patient. Today, for example, I was in so much pain if it weren't for my CNA I almost did not make my appointment. Once checked in, the nurse called me and I wheeled through the doorway. The nurse got me to the room but couldn't transfer me to the chair because she was pregnant, so we waited for Laverne. As always, with ease, we transferred me to the chair. Since day one she has known how to transfer me and deal with my condition. She always has a way of putting me at ease. Her and Dr. S make such a good team. She has everything ready for him. He comes in and out in 5 minutes to change my suprapubic catheter. I went from going to crawl back in bed after my appointment to still up in my chair hours later writing this because of how she uplifted me. One time she had me recline in the chair with the crash team on standby until my vitals returned to normal. I got jealous when her co-worker handed me this form and said, "all her patients say great things about her".
A couple of years ago at the old VA here, I was doing bad and they had to move me to triage. I was in bad pain and very angry. I heard a nurse say, "go get Laverne, she knows how to handle him". She showed up and right away was able to relax me so they could provide care. She's my angel!
