Debbie is passionate about nursing and it is obvious that she has a true love for the nursing profession and for patient care. She shows compassion and skill through her work every day. She advances nursing and nurses at every opportunity, serves faithfully on the Professional Shared Governance Nursing Practice Council, and works harder than anyone to promote shared governance and nurse empowerment. She never says no when asked to assist, participate, or serve in any capacity to support Nursing. Debbie understands and promotes the importance of a reliable safety culture and utilizes safety behaviors and error prevention tools. Further, she demonstrates a personal commitment to hold herself and others accountable for safety expectations in order to achieve the best patient outcome. She strongly supports that nurses control their practice and are accountable for quality patient outcomes. She works to ensure shared decision-making in nursing practice for improved outcomes for patients. Debbie supports that decision making occurs in large part at the point of care - at the bedside and at the unit level.
