My mom has been in and out of the hospital for a number of years. I'm not one to give a lot of praise and it can be said, I'm pretty critical. I felt compelled to lift up and recognize Racheal, who has cared for my mom over the past few days. Racheal is a decisive nurse, she is quick to assess the medical situation and then become a patient advocate and take action. I witnessed this in relation to my mom's loose stool. She was part of the team cleaning her up after several accidents. She assessed a stool catheter was in order. She made this happen in short order and then made every effort to make it more comfortable. During doctor rounds, she noted testing for C-Diff was in line with how my mom was doing. While caring for my mom she also showed great servant leadership skills. She was teaching student nurses as well. She was very savvy in how she managed the different skill levels and allowed hands-on knowledge to transfer easily. The more I saw Racheal in action I knew she was a step above.
