After a very tiring nine plus hours in the emergency department, I was admitted to the 2nd floor. Lillian was waiting for me. She was gentle. She was kind. She made me so comfortable with the small things she did. She had a long list of questions she entered into a computer, she did not push me. She seemed interested in me as a patient. I think she even made me smile.
She introduced me to my new nurse when she went off duty. She told me she'd check in with me that night, and she followed through with a special "hello" the next night.
She was sensitive to my feelings about having a "fall risk" band. She explained it was due to my medications and not my age.
And, oh yes, she sang. She sang sweetly in the hospital hallway that night. I love Lillian.
