Mr. Obi is a veteran from the united states army and his service to our veterans here is truly heroic. For example, we had a patient that was status post knee replacement. Obi and the veteran would share navy and army jokes and he would encourage him to ambulate and participate in therapy. On one particular day he was getting him ready to go to therapy on the second floor. The patient was in a wheelchair and Mr. Obi was changing his sheets the patient's eyes begin to roll back in his head and Mr. Obi noticed immediately. He called a rapid response and moved the veteran from the wheelchair to the bed. We started vital signs, no CPR since there was a pulse and an IV bolus. We were able to have him regain consciousness to which the patient was very happy to see Sargent Obi once alert. Mr. obi rounded on him throughout the day and stayed with him during therapy. The patient ended up having another rapid response in the therapy department to which Sargent obi was right there. The patient was so grateful for the care he received from him. Mr. OBI through his I-CARE principles continues to strive to give great care to every veteran every time.

"Obi has showed great care towards our veterans and has demonstrated the ICARE values. Obi is a NA on our unit. I had a patient who was deteriorating and needed assistance, not only did Obi go above and beyond but showed compassion and comforted the veteran. He assisted me (RN) in many tasks that the doctors asked for, such as doing an EKG, transporting the patient to CCU. As my first time having to deal with a patient who was deteriorating alone, Obi surely kept me calm and collected. He deserves this award and recognition because not only in this situation, but I believe he truly loves to serve our veterans as he served in the Army. He takes his tasks without complaint and always has respect for his co-workers and veterans. He always relays messages or voices his concerns to the RNs and the patients."
