Our mother had been hospitalized for an extended period of time following colon surgery. She was not recuperating very well and her condition was worsening. Rhina relieved the nurse attending to Mom and quickly noticed how distended her stomach was, and immediately notified her doctor. They performed a CAT scan and it was discovered that Mom had an ileus. Rhina put in an NG tube which quickly started to give Mom some relief.
This immediate observation saved our mother's life as she had emergency surgery to correct the problem. We are forever grateful to Rhina for her excellent assessment skills and quick action. A truly excellent nurse who will be very special to our family always.
