My mother was in the SICU for 2 weeks while she was recovering from emergency surgery. One nurse, Sara, stood out as a nurse who not only made a difference in the care of my mother but made my family and me very comfortable by keeping us updated on my mother's progress. Sara displayed professionalism throughout the care process. Every day that I came to visit, Sara spent time with me to update me on her condition and helped calm my fears with explanations of the next steps. She always had kind words and a smile on her face. Even though I know that Sara had other patients, I felt that Sara treated my mother as if she was the only patient. When I asked Sara if we could have a priest come by to meet with my mother during the day Sara made sure he was there in a few minutes so that I could also participate in prayer. She really cares about patients, their health and, well being.
