My father is in this unit and I get to visit only once or twice a year as I live 1000 miles away. During my first visit, I met a nurse named Rom and I noticed how my father perked up whenever he was around. Rom immediately introduced himself to me and seemed very interested and sincere. He spoke highly of my father and told me it was an honor to take care of him. It was as if he treated my father as his own father. He was kind and considerate. My father even mentioned how much he liked Rom. I also took note of how respectful Rom was when he took care of my father; he always has a smile on his face and good encouraging word for my dad.
As a child of a veteran, I was genuinely impressed and put at eased when I saw how compassionate the people on his unit were. Your staff and Rom specifically have revitalized my faith and trust in the VA system. I am here briefly for my second visit and I fully expect it may be the last I ever see my dad. It does my heart good and brings tears to my eyes to know that my dad has a "family" here who do such a good job of caring for him. Thank you, Rom, for all you've done. I will never ever forget you. You are storing up treasures in heaven.
