I am writing this in such high regards of Melissa Hawkins. My wife, L, and I have been in and out of the hospital for the past 40 years. I want to share with you how great it was to have the very good and beautiful (inside and out) Melissa caring for L as her nurse. I've never seen somebody that goes above and beyond quite like her!
We were very thankful that in this time of trial, she was a light shining in the darkness. She knew the hurt my wife was going through both physically and emotionally without even asking. I can see that she makes those around her better. She radiates good by her positive and confident demeanor along with her professional and hard work ethic. I believe she influences other staff on her floor to also be positive and the best they can be. She truly has left an impression that will last a lifetime with our stay here at Spectrum.
My wife L is the founder of a non-profit charity. She has severe muscular dystrophy, so Melissa took extra time in understanding both L's pre-existing condition and her current injuries as a result of an auto accident, the reason that brought us in here. L was not your typical patient, one could say. Melissa took great care of her and went above and beyond.
Melissa's contagious spirit and hard work and dedication resonate throughout this whole 4th floor. She makes everyone around her a little better, which in return is fruitful to all the patients on this floor and their families. It is very obvious that this is not just a job for her, it's her life's passion! She has a passion for compassion and we thank her and are so grateful to her.
