I had come into the hospital with stage 4 kidney failure. I am from Florida and was very sad. I was crying a lot and Valerie was my nurse. She came in and took one look at me and stopped everything and held me and let me cry and get it out. Wow! I really needed that! I was stuck in the hospital for a month. Valerie was my nurse every time she worked. She tucked me in and gave me a kiss on my forehead. She always made sure I was okay. She went over and beyond with her care for me. I have never had a nurse like her. She cared so very much for me. Valerie is the best and I was lucky to have her.

This letter is acknowledging the awesome care I have received from Valerie Thompson during my recent hospital stay. All the nurses did a great job, but Valerie stood out and I wanted to show my appreciation.
I was hospitalized for an infection in my leg that required dressing changes twice a day and Valerie used her experience from working in surgery to decide how to wrap the wound to ensure that it was wrapped properly and secure so it was not to come down between changes. I was so pleased with the way she wrapped my leg I asked her to make sure other nurses knew how to do it. Before her shift was over she gathered all the gauze rolls, ABD pads, solution, and netting so the next shift was prepared and there was no question of how it should be done.
Also, I had mentioned to Valerie that I was having a hard time sleeping, so she immediately called to see if she could give me something to help me sleep. That was the first night that I was able to get more than three hours of uninterrupted sleep. It's amazing how well you feel after getting proper sleep.
It's great to know you have nurses like Valerie that come to work with such a positive attitude each day and that are willing to go the extra mile to make sure the patients are comfortable and satisfied during their hospital stay.
