As charge nurse, Kelly was available to nurses in need of witnessing in medications, help with repositioning, toileting, it did not matter, she was never too busy to help. One weekend, Kelly was the charge nurse and took a patient just so she could teach my classmate how to chart a head to toe assessment, administer some medications, and do vital signs. She has allowed us each so many opportunities to learn and be engaged on the unit. An amazing charge nurse makes such a huge difference to the culture of a unit. Every single staff member on this unit appreciates Kelly and knows what a gem she is. If I or a loved one is to ever need the care of a nurse, I hope the nurse will be under the supervision of Kelly.
