Mark Storey has been a dedicated nurse at Summa Health System since February 4, 2008. Prior to winning the Daisy Award, Mark was the recipient of the 2016 Cameo of Caring Award. He always makes sure the needs of the patient and patient's family are addressed. He shows a true passion for the Behavioral Health population at their most vulnerable time, and that is evident by the compassion he shows not only to his patients, but to other patients on the unit as well. He is always willing to lend a hand when he sees the need without being asked. For instance, Mark frequently volunteers to come in on his days off to ensure the unit is staffed sufficiently, which allows us to provide the best patient care possible. Mark is a true patient advocate and he will communicate with the physician to discuss the needs of the patient, or to suggest a new course of treatment when the current one is proving ineffective. He has been a mentor to new employees on the unit and has been the preceptor/orienteer to many fellow employees. He understands the changing environment of nursing and embraces that change by motivating others and guiding them. Mark is instrumental to the unit and I couldn't imagine Main 6 West without him.
