I am 70. One night, I woke up with burning in my stomach, so I got up to get an antacid. I passed out before I could take it. My better half called 911. I arrived at Boswell by ambulance. After several hours and many tests in the ER, I was told I had Pancolitis. What is that and what caused it? I was told it was inflammation of the entire colon, a little known disease. Well with little sleep and little knowledge of what was going on, my mind went wild and I was scared to death. I finally got a room. Kim came in and introduced herself and advised she was starting fluids and prescribed meds. I asked about Pancolitis; which she looked up and read it to me. Then I was quarantined. Again upsetting, why? Kim again thoroughly explained I was being tested for C-Diff and medicated for it too. My sister had C-Diff, so I understood. Kim calmed me down and assured me I would be alright. She was very attentive and always explained her actions. All the while assuring I was going to get better. That sure put my mind at ease. We celebrated when I did not have C-Diff. Her bedside manner is unsurpassed, and her contagious laugh is enlightening; it warms my heart. I knew she was young, so when I asked how long she worked there; she said since August 2019. I thought she came from another hospital; no she just became a full-fledged nurse in August 2019.
I was shocked! She is a great nurse and has chosen the right career. I know I was not her only patient, but I was treated like I was.
I feel she lifted my spirits and helped me get better faster.
