Monica was seen walking the halls with a patient who was experiencing a mental crisis. Monica took the time to see the patient for the person they are and not their medical condition. She walked the halls and continued talking with the patient in a calming, reassuring tone until the patient had settled enough to receive the medical treatment they needed. This is what nursing is about - making those personal connections, seeing the patient as a person and not a condition. Monica was kind, compassionate, and empathetic. As an employee in the same facility with a differing profession, what I witnessed touched me. What I witnessed I will remember the rest of my life, because in my opinion - what Monica did, was implement the turning point to help save this patient's life.
