I came to the ED last night for a friend's little boy that was positive for Flu A, Flu B, and Strep. Back story...this little boy just turned 11 and is autistic. His Dad passed away last year in a hospital from a massive heart attack which was sudden and shocking to everyone. His Dad was a huge Superman fan. When coming to the ED this child said, "He didn't want to go to the hospital that took his Daddy." So they came to NEA.
Jack came in to help administer a penicillin shot. The child was very upset, and Jack calmed him down by talking about Superman and turned around his badge and it just so happened Superman was on it. His Mom was in tears because it hit so close to home.
The next morning rolls around and this little boy wakes up and tells his Mom how much he loved Jack and how he was like his Daddy because they both liked Superman. So sweet!
