One of our ICU patients was admitted with a very poor prognosis. She had been diagnosed with cancer and had three days to live. She was supposed to be married the Saturday after she was admitted, but wasn't able to go through with the wedding. Her fiancé, at her bedside, was struggling with this news and was terrified of losing the love of his life. Alma called the ICU/CCU Director and asked if we can have a blessing for them and a small ceremony at the bedside. The director immediately said YES, and we were able to get some cake and drinks to celebrate their love. There were rings and their family members, as well as staff in attendance to enjoy this special moment that Alma put together for them. Although this was a very sad time for the patient and her fiancé and their families, Alma was able to create some beautiful and lasting memories for them.
