Patricia is always going out of her way to make sure all the patients' questions are answered and the feel at ease. She is reaching out to those patients that are high anxiety and explaining to them the process of their appointment and what to expect. She also goes out of her way to utilize all her resources and to be a resource for others on her floor.
There was a patient that recently passed away on Christmas Eve, but while he was in the care of Dr. S, Trish was the person that helped facilitate pain management through Hospice, and Palliative Care alongside social services and speech pathology. This was not her patient. Trish took it upon herself with the permission of the other nurse to get a meeting set up to find out what the patient needed and what we could do to get it for him through his insurance. She was able to get home medical supplies for him and keep him in hospice so they could manage his nutrition and pain, ultimately giving him a better quality of life for the remaining time he had.
There are other patients Trish has helped tirelessly for in things they have needed such as Mr. X and his reflux medication need. She has been working with his insurance company, appeal after appeal to get him reflux medication for over 3 months, and still works on it to this day. Patricia is an exemplary nurse and she has so much compassion for each and every one of her patients.
