If I had to describe nurse Mary Ann in two words, they would be Unsung Hero. She is the hard-working med nurse with two jobs, putting the kids through college. She laughs at my lame jokes. Nurse Mary Ann's work ethics reminds me of my own. Go in and do the job to standard, get out. What I do know, is that she does a lot more than that.
One night, when I went up to pick up my meds as I am always last to do, I decided to talk to her about my parents who I haven't seen in 20 years. She began to explain her relationship with her parents and the loss of them. While telling me about her parents, her eyes began to water up. I immediately apologized for bringing it up. She said it was necessary because of the point she was making. She said to value family while they last, and she said it with conviction. I thought about it all night and made the decision to see my family. I'm glad I crossed paths with nurse Mary Ann. If I didn't, I wouldn't have made that impactful decision.
