A patient came through the ER and needed an MRI with contrast; the patient was a nursing mother. Christi advocated for this patient when she was told she could not breastfeed for two days post-contrast. Christi reached out to me at home to verify the safety of breastfeeding.
She also made sure Lactation was informed to follow this patient to verify new medications and diagnose safety with breastmilk. Christi made sure this patient felt supported and did an amazing job advocating for a breastfeeding mother. She could have chosen to look the other way and not acknowledged the importance of breastfeeding.
