To truly understand my nomination for Edleen you must first understand that I was having a truly difficult day. I was just told that I wouldn't be able to transfer to the CLC because I had to have a blood transfusion. I was so saddened that I was darn near inconsolable.
Edleen was so empathetic towards my pain that I had to take a step back and observe what it was that I was truly feeling. My self-pity almost instantly dissipated. She then proceeded to ask me if there was anything else that she could do for me at that time. I told her that she had done more than enough. It's these moments in which the true nature of someone's character is exposed. She showed me that I could make it through this turmoil with the proper attitude and appropriate focus.
Edleen personifies what it means to provide care and comfort that doesn't come from inside a syringe or a pill bottle. Sometimes it comes from a place with an infinite supply. That place is inside of the heart. I know it comes off as cliché and mushy, but the truth is just what it is in this particular instance. They say it takes a village to raise a child. Well for me it has taken an entire staff to raise my spirits and I couldn't be any better off for it.
