Today we had a conversation about a patient whose fiancée wanted to get married before passing. Despite other comments, Anna put all that aside and did everything to help. Speaking to her and hearing why she supported the patient and fiancée brought me to tears, not only because of the genuine concern and dedication to doing so, but she truly went above and beyond to make it happen and run smoothly.
She gave it her all. She went as far as having flowers and cupcakes so that it felt even more special for the family. Her generosity, patience, and care are beyond outstanding. She took the time to truly and genuinely get this task done. Going the extra mile because if we can make it happen, she will make it happen. More so, because it was important for her that this family get the closure and peace that they needed. It is a memory that I will never forget.
This is not the only time that Anna has shown what an amazing nurse she is. This is just one of many examples that shows her dedication as a patient advocate. Nonstop making sure that the patients get the care they need not only from herself but the entire care team. Again, not because it's part of the job, because it's important to the patients' care.
Anna is always striving to ensure the patient and even family, get the care and support that they need. Always ensuring that everyone is taken care of. More so, the amazingly sweet nurse and woman that she is. Her genuine care gives me hope. If only the world had more Anna Delroys, we would be at peace. I am so extremely proud and glad to work with such a kind soul.
