In January, the Burn Unit prepared to receive two patients who had been burned in a volcanic eruption in New Zealand. The couple was newlyweds who had been on their honeymoon at the time of the incident. They were initially taken to two different hospitals in New Zealand and had not seen one another since the accident.
The wife arrived first. Becca Bobbitt demonstrated exemplary nursing care and compassion as she assessed the wife's physical and psychosocial needs.
With advance notice, Becca organized and spearheaded a romantic dinner for the couple to be held on the evening of the husband's admission.
This is one of many examples of the thoughtful, caring, compassionate work we see from Becca. She is a true asset to the Burn Team!
I, as a teammate, and also as a former Burn patient recognize how Becca's work brings a vital dynamic to the recovery of all our patients. She is an example for all of us and exemplifies the tenants of a DAISY Nurse.
