Erika is a phenomenal nurse. Her compassion and kindness are matched by her clinical acumen and attention to detail. This all was on display when she was the bedside nurse for an infant with multiple underlying complications, prolonged hospitalization who was sick with a new infection, and in a lot of pain and distress from a kidney stone. Erika worked closely with the charge nurse and 5 West team to ensure she'd be able to be at this patient's side to not just provide medication, care, and observation but also a loving and soothing touch to give her exhausted parents a break. She still maintained excellent closed-loop communication as the management plan changed several times and her detailed orientation was appreciated. It was a challenging day for all involved but having Erika made all the difference.
