Kelly, I'm not sure if you remember me, but my son was in the PICU twice; once in January and once in early March before he was transferred to Loma Linda. I've been meaning to reach out for a couple of weeks now but I just didn't know how to with everything going on. I just received his medical records and saw your full name on that and here we are. I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for holding my hand and being there for me while my son fought for his life. You and all the other nurses gave me a shoulder to cry on. You kept me and my husband from collapsing because the pain of seeing our son like that was unbearable. It's still unbearable that he is no longer physically a part of our lives. From the first time we were in the PICU, you stood out to me as a nurse and a person. You are so compassionate in what you do. There are very few nurses I've come across in my life with that kind of compassion. Each healthcare member that was a part of our son's care was exceptional. I hope you can tell the rest of your staff that we appreciate each and every one of you for what you did for our son. We are sending prayers to all of you healthcare workers during this difficult time. Once again, thank you for being a wonderful nurse to my son and a friend to me and my husband during the lowest time in our lives. Everyone tried their best to save him, but I guess our little angel was only meant to be here with us for a short time. Thank you for being so wonderful at what you do, and I wish you all the best.
