Lindsay is a CHI traveler who has been in the Good Sam COVID unit from the beginning. As a PCU nurse, I have been pulled to the unit a few times to assist in team nursing and while I have worked with many good nurses, Lindsay stands out as I have worked with her more frequently. As a traveler, Lindsay has stayed away from her home and loved ones for months to keep them and the community safe while caring for patients with COVID. In order to protect the spread of the virus within the hospital, fewer ancillary staff are available to assist than usual and Lindsay has stepped up to this challenge in exemplary ways. I have seen her do patients' hair, even while they were sedated and did not know the difference. She has washed patient dishes when their families sent food from home. She has cleaned rooms, and wiped windows and mopped floors. And most importantly she has been present and compassionate to her patients when they were at their most vulnerable and could not be near their loved ones. Lindsay is the kind of nurse I would hope for if my family were in this situation and should be recognized.
