I have worked with Alisha many times and never had anything less than complete admiration for her compassion, the great work she does and the love she gives to her job and patients. She always goes above and beyond to complete a task, never complains about workload and always jumps in to get the job done.
But today on top of all of her amazing qualities including the smile that never parts her face and the amazing load of energy she always carries, today something unusual happened that commands respect and utter admiration.
We had a patient in common who was worried about her puppy alone at home for 4 days as she did not anticipate staying in the hospital that long. It has been a busy week for us and a busy day and Alisha was helping with an extra shift. Despite all of that, she immediately offered to get food for the puppy and take care of the situation for the patient, using her own money and delivering the food to the house. This huge favor for the patient made her so comfortable about staying and she was less anxious, giving her the opportunity to focus more on her health.
To you, Alisha Wildee, this patient, and her puppy will forever be grateful and I too for all that you do every day at work. I enjoy working with accomplished nurses like yourself and I am so proud to share your story.
