Elena cared for a patient who was discharged but unable to get a ride home to Everett by friend or family and the cabulance had not yet responded to a request from the hospital for transport. A taxi ride would have cost $85 and the patient simply could not afford that. She was in tears and only wanted to go home. Elena showed genuine concern and compassion for her letting her know repeatedly we would keep working on it. She was patient and never made the patient feel like it was her fault or problem.After not hearing back and getting many "no's", Elena paid for this patient's Uber ride. The patient was so grateful, crying again but tears of happiness this time. Elena sought no recognition or compensation for this kind gesture. This is just one example of many I've witnessed over the years of working with her. She is an exemplary model of a professional nurse.
