Andrea Rankin is a team player who looks out for her colleagues. She consistently provides the best nursing care to her patients and their families and does not hesitate to speak up for them. She is an expert nurse on the unit that is always willing to teach the new nurses. She builds relationships with both her patients and family members. They trust in her caring for them and their loved ones. Patients will often say to me when I take over from her, "Andrea is an excellent nurse who works with compassion and empathy."

I have had the pleasure of working with Andrea over the past three years and witness daily, her compassion for patients and dedication to the unit. Without hesitation, Andrea volunteered to come in on her days off to administer medication to patients. She has also volunteered to come in to do the same when the patients are in the MICU, ICU, and the Infusion Center. The hospital can be extremely stressful for patients and at times tensions run high and care can be difficult. Her gentle touch, kind demeanor, and empathy allow patients to develop trust with the staff on our unit. She reminds us of why we are truly there. She is kind and so full of compassion for all she encounters. May every unit be as fortunate as to have an Andrea.
