Our nurse, Judy is the greatest! She has been totally professional and compassionate as one would expect, but she has something more. She is able to connect and inspire, which is not easy. Our son is not the easiest patient. The work in the BMT unit is so difficult because the patients are very sick and are generally miserable. In my son's case, I particularly noticed that Judy would go an extra mile and make sure that he has been properly cleaned every time he would throw up and she would apply lotion on him. This really spoke to her dedication and her ethic of care and compassion. She made him feel good, comfortable and cared for. I know he really appreciated it. She talked to him and encouraged him to get better, to try to progress and move on, which is not easy with our son since he can tend to be sad. Judy made sure we got the services he needed. All in all, our family feels Judy is an outstanding role model to her peers.
