Alison Jones always showed up with a smile. She was very sisterly. Ali took the time to patiently paint my daughter's nails and talk about M's hobbies and interests. Ali was very punctual. She often showed up just before a pump was about to beep, as if she had them very well timed. If they did beep, it wasn't for very long and we did not have to page her.
Ali was very patient and encouraging during walks and engaged in conversations during the walks. It made it feel like she really cared. Ali was also patient and extremely gentle when helping M out of bed and into a chair. She was particularly sensitive to protecting M's modesty. Those robes don't close that well and Ali made sure that every move was done without exposure.
Ali was very gentle around the wound area. Ali explained everything that she needed to do with detail before doing anything. She was also extremely knowledgeable about each of the pain medications prescribed. She was able to address all the questions I had about the need for each and potential interactions between them.
All these together make for the very best nurse experience. While all of CHOP's nurses are exceptional, Ali has really stood out as extremely compassionate, punctual, knowledgeable, and perhaps most importantly from a patient perspective, sisterly. My daughter greatly appreciated that most of all. That means more to me than any of the other stuff. M was comfortable. Thank you!
