Emergency situations seem to bring out the best in our health care workers. That held true for one of our nurses, who while traveling to work came across the scene of a bad car accident. Acting on instinct and training, Robert Frisbie sprang into action to assist a motorist trapped inside mangled wreckage until paramedics arrived.
Rob called the administrative supervisor to say he would be late to work due to an accident on the highway. He stopped to assist a man whose vehicle overturned, took out the car's sunroof, and held his head in place while paramedics were on the way. Rob tried to keep the man calm through his significant pain and injury and stayed by his side until he was in the ambulance. Rob had to return home quickly to change his scrubs which were stained from the incident. This was an extraordinary act of compassion and community.
