The Herma Heart Institute proudly recognizes Jane Sowinski, BSN, RN as a DAISY Nurse Excellence award recipient. Jane is a veteran nurse. She's worked at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin for over 30 years. She inspires others with the quality of care she provides as well as the compassion and dedication she demonstrates to the patient population she serves.
Jane's impact as the nurse clinician coordinator for the Adult Congenital Heart Disease program is seen daily. She is an indispensable member of this team and a role model to her peers. She is a fierce advocate for all her patients and their families. She is a true embodiment of the phrase "care closer to home" as she travels to the NE region weekly to provide services for the highly complex patients she cares for. I have been a patient with Jane for over a decade. Since day one, she has always been one of the sweetest and most caring people I know. She's witnessed many ups and downs throughout my life's journey thus far, and she is always extra compassionate, making me feel important and valuable. She takes the time to listen to what I'm going through, always remembering details of my stories and life events. Her knowledge and expertise have seen me through many things, and I think she is an outstanding person and the best nurse ever. I feel extremely blessed to be cared for by this amazing woman.
