My son had a total shunt replacement with some complications after his surgery, what would have been 1-2 days in the hospital turned into a week. After a few days, he was refusing his medicine for pain and was just pretty much over his stay. Although every one of his nurses was attentive and pretty patient with him, Tiffanie went above and beyond. If she said she would be right back with his medicine or anything else he needed, she was truly right back with it. When she noticed he had a particularly difficult time taking his 'yucky meds', she picked out a toy for him that she knew he would like and he made sure to finish his meds before she came back so he could earn that toy. In situations where kids are involved, I'm all for an incentive (AKA bribery) if it is for the greater good. My son was not the only one who benefited from her care.
Tiffanie was also super stealthy in the night. After having had maybe 3 hours of sleep in the past 3 days I was exhausted. I typically wake up when anyone came in to check on my son or check his vitals, which I certainly didn't mind because he was my priority, but the lack of sleep was taking a toll on my body. I got the most amount of sleep when she was our night nurse 2 nights in a row.
Although I knew she had plenty of other patients when I had questions and concerns about my son she was there to listen and never once got impatient with me. In the greater scheme of things, I had a lot going on while my son was in the hospital, between his care, full-time college courses online and tons of missed work, I was stressed to the core, but I felt compelled to fill out this nomination because it is truly the little things that matter and Tiffanie definitely made our lives a little easier.
