My mother-in-law fell and broke her ankle and Jodie was the main nurse to care for her in the ER. My mother-in-law was extremely nervous about the conscious sedation while they reduced her ankle, but Jodie was very reassuring and explained the effects of the medication several times to make her feel more at ease. Jodie was very patient and made my mother-in-law feel respected, even in her vulnerable state.
Jodie was also the RN who took care of my 7-year-old daughter who fell at school and broke her arm. Again, she was the definition of nursing excellence, making sure both my baby and I were well informed and well taken care of, all while precepting a new RN!
I am not usually one to remember names, but Jodie made it easy because of her sweet personality. As a nurse myself, it is one thing to be around illness and injury, but as a mother, it is completely different. I felt like Jodie gave me the perfect amount of support for the nurse vs. mom in me so that I didn't fall apart. I have witnessed her in action on two occasions now and am confident in saying that Jodie is a true blessing to this profession, this hospital and to my family!
