Griselda Barba is always going above and beyond to support her fellow nurses as the shift Practice Coordinator. During a particularly busy shift, a nurse hadn't taken her lunch break all day. When she mentioned to Griselda that she needed to take a break to eat, Griselda eagerly insisted she give the phone to her and that she would cover her patients. Griselda not only held her phone but also completed many tasks for her fellow co-worker.
"When I came back, I saw her at the station trying to eat a granola bar while working - turns out she had not even gone to lunch herself, but never said anything," her co-worker wrote in a nomination letter. "Instead, she generously chose to cover my break without complaint. Griselda constantly does these things."
Griselda is known for covering breaks and helping on the floor as much as possible - whether it is starting IVs, helping with the day-to-day communication with Spanish speaking patients and families, or picking up where nurses left off on busy, non-stop days.
"Griselda also always handles the day with a positive, but realistic attitude," her nominator wrote. "She 'gets it' when it's rough and she tackles a tough day with kindness and a smile. I am sure I am speaking for all of us when I say that Griselda is awesome to work with - I know her patients would agree!"
