During our experience in labor/delivery, everyone we met was outstanding. However, Sarah Greer stood out in my eyes. Sarah came on at 7 AM during the height of our delivery. She used humor to bring a calm to the room. She was so informative that you knew what she was telling you was the truth, and what was best for my fiancée, J.
At 7 PM J had still not delivered, and Sarah said she would have to leave. She stayed until the night shift nurse came and then left. It seemed hard to continue as we had a trusting relationship with Sarah. At 8 PM our son H needed to be vacuumed. Sarah came back in the room and stated she texted her family and told them she would be late because she wanted to see H be born. I was relieved beyond words.
When H came out, he had trouble breathing and I was terrified. Sarah came to me and said: "Dad, he's going to be fine." At that point, I knew he would be fine because Sarah said he would and I trusted her. H is now a happy and healthy newborn. Sarah made this experience much easier on a new dad and her dedication to service gives OSF hospital a great name. And her dedication to the career of nursing should be emulated by others. Thank you, Sarah!
