While Emily was in changing my neck dressing and hanging IV antibiotics, I started to cry. I was so fearful of an infection and felt so overwhelmed. My original surgery for C2-T1 decompression and fusion and I was in the hospital for five days for that surgery. Then the incision opened suddenly at home a month later, so I came back in for emergency surgery. In the midst of being busy and doing my care, Emily stopped to hold my hand and listened to my fears.
