My wife and I just had our first child in October, and we delivered him at Eastern Maine Medical center. To say we were treated well - especially by our main day-shift nurse Allison, would be a massive understatement. From the moment that she stepped into our room, Allison was beyond warm and inviting, never ceased to have a smile on her face. She was beyond kind and extremely patient with us. Having Allison as our nurse felt like we had a family member and close friend by our side throughout our stay, all while having someone with profound medical expertise who we trusted wholly to advise us.
Not only was Allison understanding of my wife and I's personal preferences regarding everything and anything with our baby, but she was completely objective and unbiased throughout all of her explanations and options for our newborn. Allison took the time and sat with us, time and time again, to help put us at ease and taught us so much in our first few days as new parents. I can honestly say that I will never forget the kindness that she showed us - her name and face will be a happy memory from the best days of our lives: bringing our newborn son into the world and back into our home.
It's hard to pick just one situation where we feel like Allison went above and beyond - she was constantly showing and teaching us things during our time with her. From her endless patience to her meticulous care of both of us and our baby - she honestly never disappointed. She offered to prepare a bath for our son and made sure to accommodate every request and specificity that my wife and I had. She actually washed our son for his first bath hand in hand with my wife and showed her how to do it properly, along with the "do's and the don'ts" that came with bath time for newborns.
At the end of our stay, Allison walked out of the hospital with my wife and me, pushing my wife's wheelchair all the way from the 7th-floor maternity ward out to our car and helped us load our baby and our belongings up. Even my mother in law commented that she's never witnessed such a genuine, caring nurse. You should be extremely proud and grateful to have someone like Allison as a part of your staff. Thank you!
