A pediatric nurse of more than 15 years was diagnosed with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis. Her condition was attacking her central nervous system and there is no cure. She has endured high-dose chemotherapy, causing her to lose her beautiful hair that she was known for. Her colleague Alison, whose hair she had always admired, decided to help her good friend by cutting her hair to make a wig for her.
Her department helped raise money to have the wig created. Her colleagues continue to raise money for her as she undergoes a stem cell transplant as part of a clinical trial in Chicago. They surprised her with the wig before she flew to Chicago for her treatment. This just demonstrates once again to me that our nurses don't just take care of our sweet patients. They take care of each other, too. Alison's generosity is inspiring to me and many others at Baptist Health and Wolfson.
Alison, thank you for sharing your many gifts with us at Wolfson. Congratulations, you make us proud!
