I am writing this on behalf of my brother, R, and myself. We could not have asked for better nurses during our stay at the American Center. Our favorite nurse is Tyler. He took the time to get to know R and make his stay as fun as it could be by tapping into R's sense of humor. Tyler was with us for 3 twelve hour shifts. Tyler took care of R with respect, compassion, patience, and love. (R is 50 years old and has physical/developmental disabilities.) Tyler took the time to get to know him, how he communicates nonverbally (other than the word 'no'), and knew just how to make him laugh. They made it a game to see who was the supervisor. They also tried to see who could make a basket in the garbage can. He took the time to assist compassionately with walks, using the bathroom, hand soaks, and meds. He always explained to R what was going to happen in a way that he could understand. He was always kind, patient and had a smile on his face. Tyler always kept us up to date on test results and changes as they occurred. Tyler and R became good friends and we believe that God sent Tyler as His special angel to take care of R.
