Though I do understand that I couldn't possibly be her only patient, Nurse Maria Garcia was always helpful as she diligently attempted to get in front of the pain I was experiencing which hampered me from doing some of the requirements necessary for discharge. No request was too big or too small for her to address. The time was taken on a daily basis to address my concerns, fears, and knowledge of what I would need to know post-op. Though I am trying to express exactly what her intervention meant to me, the summary that I am providing just doesn't seem adequate to explain just how significant or valued her contribution was to my overall healing plan. It has been twenty-eight years since I was hospitalized for any type of surgery. Though pre-warned by well-meaning family and friends which subsequently led me to be extremely nervous about the procedure/hospitalization, Nurse Maria Garcia put everything into a perspective that allowed me to concentrate on the immediate tasks at hand. I wish there was something else I could do to let her know how important her contributions were to me.
