When I think of comfort and compassionate care for a patient, Jessica comes to mind. She is a delight to work with and is counted to lend a hand to support fellow teammates. Here is a family member's story to exemplify her attributes as a comfort liaison for the patient.
"Upon first meeting Jessica, when she came into my brother's room to perform a nurse's duty, I was very pleased to experience such a positive and pleasant demeanor. She has a kind and calming bedside manner while demonstrating a genuine sense of concern. She has been very consistent in returning in a timely manner when concerns or requests have been made. On a day that she was not assigned to my brother, she briefly stuck her head in his room doorway to say hello and asked if anything was needed. Her timing was perfect as my brother needed pain medication. She stated she would inform his nurse and apparently did because his nurse brought the pain med quickly. Although Jessica was not his assigned nurse for the shift, having her as one of his first nurses, I believe has greatly helped to diminish what would otherwise have been an even more stressful experience during this stressful recovery challenge. As I love my big brother very much, I am grateful for every professional who was involved in his care. The intent of this letter is to say THANK YOU to Jessica Nwafor who is such an awesome team member. It is our hope that you will convey our gratitude to her."
As we move to a standard of ensuring we ease our patient's discomfort, Jessica does an outstanding job of ensuring the patients' and families' stress level is reduced to allow them to have a pleasant stay. She makes a difference with her patients and the team by lending a caring hand every time. She is respectful and as a newer member of the team, she is eager to learn. Jessica is very attentive and clearly cares for the patient to prevent or relieve suffering as much as possible.
