Darren and Sarah went above and beyond for a patient with Cognitive Defects. This patient was a new diabetic and was very upset about the doctor. These nurses helped the patient and family to understand how to manage his condition. They treated his family with compassion and patience. They explained and demonstrated things in a way they could all understand. They also did some special things for the patient. He was very curious about the doctors and nurses and wanted to be involved with what they were doing. They took time during a normal busy morning to get him a green scrub shirt. They fashioned a name tag, gave him a stethoscope and a pen, and put some papers on a clipboard for him to write on. He was so happy! He mentioned that he was looking forward to graduating, so the Manager even helped them get an "honorary Diploma". They presented it to him while graduation procession music played. He tearfully accepted the award while his family and available staff watched. He gave a speech and thanked everyone for attending his special day. Many were in tears as they cheered for him. These RNs went way out of their way to make this patient feel extra special. They are true DAISY Nurses.
