Victoria demonstrated extraordinary, highly competent, and patient-focused care while taking care of my husband M. Her compassion and exceptional nursing care are beyond reproach. My husband was diagnosed with probable pancreatic cancer and was very confused at times due to his dementia.
Victoria was so caring and patient with M. She showed so much compassion even though M acted like he was her only patient. Every time he called for her, she came and patiently answered his questions repeatedly. You see, his dementia kept him from knowing that he had already asked her those questions. She could tell that M wanted to talk and she gave him the time even though she knew he would not remember.
In addition to the mental challenge M could be, he also kept putting his arm in positions that would set off the IV alarm for occlusion. I asked her if she would place another IV in a location that would not trigger the alarm when M moves. Victoria skillfully started a new IV with little discomfort to M in his non-dominant arm, away from his antecubital space...Problem solved! Victoria is a nurse that I will never forget and will always hold dear because of the care she provided to my M.
Those are just a few of the many examples of extraordinary, compassionate, and skillful care this exceptionally competent and dedicated nurse did for my husband as I personally witnessed every single act.
