I couldn't have had an epidural free birth without her. She went above and beyond to make me comfortable. When things got scary for me and my baby, she kept her cool. I believe that I would have ended up with a C-section if I had a nurse who didn't care as much as she did.

My wife, M was induced. This was our fourth birth and the second delivery at St. Elizabeth. We received stellar care for the first several hours from J who somehow managed to balance answering the phone/charge nurse duties with caring for us. This was our first induction and we were concerned with pain management but trying to stay away from an epidural. In later labor, Katie did an excellent job of giving all options with pros/cons without being pushy (a big problem with the other hospital). We settled on a distracting bath while the doctor arrived. She displayed great caution and asked to wait for the doctor's cervical exam before the bath and we were glad she did! My wife quickly dilated 4+ cm in a 10-20 minute period! We never would have gotten out of the bath. Katie had also set up the warmer and tables long before labor really got hot and heavy, again we are so glad she did as the team barely had to time to assemble! She sprinted to get the team and doctor, water broke and minutes later we had a baby. Had there been any hesitation or second-guessing on Katie's part, I would have caught a drowsy baby myself in the bathtub. We've delivered elsewhere, but Katie's professionalism, experience, and expertise with a NICU to back it up is why we're here. It is my understanding that she picked up this extra shift with snow coming, all while pregnant herself. Truly amazing and we wanted to sincerely say "Thank you and Well Done!"
