I was admitted for possible bowel obstruction. A very uncomfortable NG tube was inserted down my throat and I had severe throat pain from then on. I used a spit cup so as not to swallow. By 3:30 am I demanded it be removed. Nastacia said she'd check and was very understanding. She checked with her charge nurse and they both agreed how uncomfortable it was. But then Nastacia pointed out the doctor may require it be put back in. It took 3 tries to get that tube into my belly and was a horrible experience so I dropped my request to have it removed. I thanked her the next day because it would have had to be re-inserted. She is an excellent nurse that shows she cares as I received wonderful attention all night long. She is an asset to your team and hospital!
