Kristina recently was taking care of a critically ill patient in the ED who was determined to be in multisystem organ failure and only given a few hours to live. She quickly contacted family, who happened to be out of town, and it became apparent family wouldn't be here in time so she made the patient her family. The patient continued to decline and there were no hospice beds available at the time, so she took it upon herself to make the patient as comfortable as possible. She played his favorite artists on her phone in the room, and sat and talked with the patient to make him as comfortable as possible at all times. He sat there and listened to his favorite artist and talked with staff. She went above and beyond to make sure the patient was comfortable in his dying hours and made sure to make him not feel alone. She put her patient first and always made sure he was as happy as possible.
