My daughter has been through many hospital visits and procedures during her young life. After a procedure under anesthesia and a small window of time to feel ok and eat before anesthesia and surgery again the next day, I knew we were entering into a very tough night. Surgery finished in the evening and a nurse named Uzo was waiting for us on the 5th floor.
I first noticed she knew precisely how she would transport my daughter from one bed to another. She gave very clear directions to others assisting her. Everything went perfectly and that was only the beginning.
The entire evening through the morning, I have never witnessed a nurse with such care and compassion. She was so gentle, efficient, and it was as if she had done this for an entire lifetime, yet with the heart and compassion of someone who sees you as a person and not a number on the workload. Through throwing up bile and needing extra care, I never worried that my daughter would be left unattended or neglected. I have never witnessed anyone quite like her. She is a "Gift to Nursing" and my daughter agrees. I am in tears just thinking about her great care!
