Joy Heng is an exceptional nurse. She brings an energy and positivity to 7 East every day that is seemingly unflappable. Working regularly in the break nurse role, it can be more challenging to create a deep connection with many of the patients on the floor, but day after day, many of our patients consistently report that Joy is one of their favorite staff members to work with. Even in short 15-minute interactions with patients, she makes sure to follow-up on questions and concerns they have, even as she moves on to provide a break to the next nurse with a different set of patients. These patients and their family members talk about the compassion she exhibits and how they don't feel forgotten about when working with Joy.
In a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment, Joy does not let the little things affect her. Her positive attitude on the floor is infectious and often encourages a "can-do" attitude in others. She is professional but personable. She is always first to jump up and help when another staff member needs something. She is the best of Harborview and we are so lucky to have her representing 7 East in the work she does here every day.
